HMQ v Vader ABQB September 13 2016

Justice Thomas of the ABQB allowed cameras to broadcast the murder trial verdict on the basis that a live broadcast would serve to raise public awareness, promote the role in the courts of accredited media, and increase confidence in the judicial system.

The party resisting the application to permit a fixed camera to record and broadcast the decision has the burden of displacing the general rule of openness.
