Scott has acted for the major newspaper in Calgary for 27 years and appeared on numerous occasions before the courts on behalf of the Calgary Herald. Scott has acted for the National Post, Postmedia and CBC. Some representative cases include:

Sykes v Southam Inc (1991), 115 AR 100, a successfully defended trial against the former mayor of Calgary over an editorial opinion.
Michael O’Malley v O'Callaghan (1992), 128 AR 28, a successfully defended trial over the editorial stance of the Herald on abortion and a variety of religious issues.
Kwok v Canada (Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council) Canwest Publishing Inc., National Post Inc, et al, [2013] AJ No 753, involving a University of Calgary professor and his relationship with the National Research Council grants.
Arthur Kent v Martin, National Post Company, Canwest Publishing Inc, et al and Kent v. Postmedia Network Inc et al, a series of claims involving the plaintiff's 2008 campaign for a provincial legislature seat in the riding of Calgary Currie.
