Molly Krishtalka
Molly’s legal practice covers defamation and media law, public and constitutional law, and civil and commercial litigation. Molly works with clients at all stages of litigation, from the provision of strategic advice to representation at trial and on appeal. She has appeared before all levels of Quebec courts, the Supreme Court of Canada, the Federal Courts, and various administrative tribunals. She has pled before the Supreme Court of Canada on multiple occasions on matters variously raising questions of constitutional law, civil procedure, and Quebec civil law.
Molly is fluent in English and French and maintains a bilingual legal practice. Prior to beginning her legal practice, she clerked for the Honourable Justice Andromache Karakatsanis of the Supreme Court of Canada. During law school, Molly was editor-in-chief of the McGill Journal of Sustainable Development Law and Policy, vol.9.
Molly’s media law practice covers both advisory work, including pre-publication vetting and the preparation of advisory opinions, and representation before courts and administrative tribunals, including challenging confidentiality orders, defending against defamation actions, and contesting refusals of access-to-information requests. Molly also provides workshops and training sessions on topics in media law and defamation law. She has experience working with national media organizations, small news outlets, and independent journalists.
Molly has taught Media Law and Advanced Civil Law Obligations at McGill University’s Faculty of Law. She has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAF) since 2025.
